Dear Souls of St. Joseph Shrine,
Blessed feast of the Institution of the Priesthood and of the Eucharist. May we earnestly beseech the Eternal High Priest, Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to shower graces upon the clergy for their sanctification and upon the people of God for the prompt return of public Mass and distribution of Holy Communion!
Our live-stream schedule is as follows: Holy Thursday: 7pm, Good Friday: 3pm, Holy Saturday Easter Vigil: 9pm, Easter Day: 11am. All Triduum ceremonies will be streamed directly on our
St. Joseph Shrine Detroit YouTube Channel
The church remains open every day, all day,
except for the brief time of the live-streams.
The church will always re-open immediately following the end of the live-streamed ceremony
I would also like to answer your many questions on the Precept of the Church regarding "Easter time Communion". While there is no dispensation from this Precept, please know that it has been the traditional teaching of the Church that by "Easter time" we mean "from the beginning of Lent until Trinity Sunday" -My Catholic Faith, 1954 (in other words,

Thus, almost all of you have already fulfilled your obligation. This being said, Canon Sequeira and I will be communicating to you in the near future how we can arrange a distribution of Communion, even if it means treating each of your homes like a sick call. We will not let you starve!
United in grateful prayer before the ineffable mysteries of the Priesthood and Eucharist,
In Christo Rege Crucifixo,
Canon Stein, Rector
P.S.. We are looking at June 18th as a possible date for the previously scheduled April 30th Annual Gala which is currently postponed.
P.P.S.: Tomorrow being Good Friday, exceptionally, the live-stream of the preparation for the Total Consecration to St. Joseph will be at 11am on our
. On Saturday it will return to the normal 5pm time-slot.

According to St. Thomas Aquinas,
Spiritual Communion includes 2 main elements: an ardent desire to receive Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and a loving embrace as though we had already received Him
. Spiritual communion produces within us effects similar to Sacramental Communion, according to the fervor of our desire and to the love with which we give Him welcome and attention. An ardent Spiritual Communion obtains for us the graces we need to become more pleasing to God, to practice virtue, and to avoid sin. An act of Spiritual Communion can be made with your own prayerful words or using a formula such as this one below.
Act of Spiritual Communion recommended by St. Alphonsus Ligouri:
My Jesus, I believe that Thou art truly present in the Blessed Sacrament. I love Thee above all things, and I long for Thee in my soul. Since I cannot now receive Thee sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace Thee as though Thou hast already come. I unite myself entirely to Thee. Never permit me to be separated from Thee. Amen.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus,
have mercy on us
