Mass Memo - week of June 15th
June 13th 2020
Feast of Saint Anthony of Padua
Dear Faithful and Friends of St. Joseph Shrine,
Thank you all the prayers said for the Canons during our Annual Priest Retreat! We are grateful for that privileged time of spiritual renewal and ready to continue to serve you with a supernatural spirit.
Tomorrow, June 14th, we will celebrate the External Solemnity of Corpus Christi with Masses at 7am, 9am, and 11am. An outdoor Eucharistic Procession will take place immediately following the 11am Mass. Join us and bear witness to Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament; He who is the Center, Summit, and Source of Catholic civilization! To Him we must return!
We are grateful to Father Bustamante for saying Mass for us at Noon everyday last week. Going forward, w
e will continue to announce the increased daily Mass schedule on a weekly basis. Please know that there will always be the “core” Mass schedule, i.e. weekday Mass at 8am, except the Wednesday Mass at Noon, Saturday 9am and Sunday 9am & 11am. Any changes will be in addition to those times without replacing them.
This week from June 15-19 we are happy to announce every weekday that where there’s an 8am Mass there will also be a 7pm Mass. In other words, daily weekday Mass at 8am & 7pm except on Wednesday when the lone Mass will be at Noon.
Until further notice it looks like the 7am Sunday Mass is here to stay, joining the 9am & 11am.
Thank you for your increased numbers! Sacraments beget Sacraments!
In Christo Rege,
P.S. The 7pm Mass on Friday, June 19th will be a High Mass for the feast of the Sacred Heart!

Novena Prayer to the Sacred Heart
O most holy Heart of Jesus, fountain of every blessing, I adore Thee, I love Thee and with a lively sorrow for my sins, I offer Thee this poor heart of mine. Make me humble, patient, pure and wholly obedient to Thy will. Grant, good Jesus, that I may live in Thee and for Thee. Protect me in the midst of danger; comfort me in my afflictions; give me health of body, assistance in my temporal needs, Thy blessing on all that I do, and the grace of a holy death. Within Thy Heart I place my every care. In every need let me come to Thee with humble trust saying: Heart of Jesus help me.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in Thee!
Father Robert Marczewski says 'thank you'
Reverend Canons and dear Parishioners,
Having just returned home from my Mid-West voyage, without any delay, I want to express my appreciation to Canon Stein for allowing me to celebrate Mass on the 25th anniversary of my ordination at St Joseph’s Shrine. Once my trip to Rome (and Mass at St Peter’s tomb) was cancelled, my immediate desire was to be able to offer Mass in St Joseph’s church, my favorite in America. I am very grateful to the Divine Providence that it came to fruition.
I would like to thank Canon Stein and Canon Sequeira for a wonderful gift of the relic of St. Catherine Labouré and the beautiful reliquary, as well as their generous hospitality. Thank you for making me feel at home any time I come to Michigan.
I am grateful to all your parishioners for their spiritual bouquet as well as the many expressions of kindness and individual gifts. In particular, I would like to thank Christine Gray for coordinating a small reception afterwords, mainly to accommodate those who traveled from afar. Lastly, my deepest thanks for all your goodness and your prayerful support. Your great love for priesthood is a great inspiration to me.
Be assured of my gratitude and prayers. The seven years when I provided pastoral assistance at St Joseph’s Church was a privileged and a great blessing to me and will continue to remain deep in my memory. May God continue to bless you all!
Fr. Robert Marczewski
